Název - téma disertační práce: Art as an instrument of improving stability in beekeeping

Anotace:
Through environmental efforts, the population of bees rapidly declines.
Most attention focuses on health-related solutions, but the primary cause is that beekeeping
and agriculture has contradictory aims and economically compete for landscape. Beekeeping
is generally not self-sustainable.
This research searches and explores new revenues to help beekeeping become sustainable,
new applications to help beekeeping become stable.
The used method is research by design, where art, architecture and design itself offers a
number of possible solutions. Three such solutions were selected and experimentally verified.
Art is represented by development of a new printing technique, where propolis is printed by
bees on linen canvas - apigraphy.
Architecture focuses on the form of existing bee-related unique typology - apihouse.
Design is represented by a product co-created by bees - Beehive lighting.

artist statement:
I do not consider myself an artist and I do not do art. I am a scientist and my inventions are bricks twisting materials into a feeling or emotions.
I invent tools for others to join me to play with.
I carry my studio with me all the time in my pencil case, but my workshop is based in northern Bohemia.
Only when someone says to me it is stupid or it cannot be done, than I know, it is an unexplored area and I am on the right track.
I use my curiosity and intelect to seek solutions.
Each topic, only after stripped fully to its most core essentials, could be a solid base for truly relevant mind construction. Adding or removing ideas and layers, with this stripped question always in mind, it makes the work true and honest.
Then the project has to age with me, lives with me every day, struggles with me, fights me, and sometimes dies, but when its web successfully connects all and answers begins to make sense, that eureka moment gives me drive,
only afterwards the work can begin.
